Stop and ask yourself this simple question; have you ever become extremely angry when dealing with technology? It seems like a broad question to ask, but let me break it down a bit further for you.
Think of a time that you were trying to get something accomplished that required an internet connection or a laptop or cell phone. But that internet didn't connect for you, or that computer wouldn't turn on. Do you remember how that felt and the wave of frustration that came over you? As hard as it is to admit, you felt angry. And what never feels great is when you call for help from customer service and the issue doesn't get resolved. That anger then gets projected onto the person on the other end of the phone. Why do we do this? And why do we allow something that is supposed to create ease of access in our lives to take control of our emotions in a way that is outside our normal personality?
If you take a step back and really try to understand why we react the way we do in those situations, you will (hopefully) come to realize that it isn't the customer service representative's fault that your internet isn't working. It isn't the company themselves; its either user error or something more involved that is the actual technologies fault. But it is much easier to put the blame on everyone and everything else around us. The fear in this is that these types of situations can get so intense and complex that as technological advancements continue to rise, we, as consumers, are only going to hold everyone in said technology field and the actual technology itself to higher standards.
Below is a video that explains a form of rage that only the 21st century has come to recognize. ITs called Gamer Rage, and it is when users of various video games become so angry they resort to emotional, or even worse yet, physical violence.
