Why wait?
Why wait for anything when you can go online to your favorite online shopping website and order anything and everything you would ever need to be a functioning human in society now a days. Why would you go grocery shopping and step out in public when you can place an order for either delivery later that day, or pick up where you don't even have to get out of your car to go inside for your order.
People need people. That human interaction and connection is something that time and time again psychologists have proven is necessary for a fulfilling and happy life. But as technology increases, and our tangible and selfish needs are being fulfilled almost instantaneously, are we all forgetting to stop and slow down and truly focus on the connections and part of life that truly matters? We cannot possibly try to hold one another to the same standard that we view our social media platforms, and online shopping addictions to. So long are the days where you would mail letters to others, and wait for responses. Look forward to the response back and form genuine connections that way. Calling landlines and not knowing if you would be able to connect to whoever it is you are calling because you knew if you didn't, they wouldn't know you called in the first place. Caller ID wasn't a thing nor was the ability to leave a voicemail. It was all a risk. And now that technology has reached a point of saturation, people are afraid to take risks. In so many different areas of life.
Below is a Ted Talk that I believe everyone should watch and truly absorb, because it describes how this idea of instant gratification is running the risk of destroying society. And there has to be a form of balance before it is too late.
